Programs - Early Childhood Programs
The Multicultural Institute features educational and fun hands-on multicultural activities for children designed to complement early childhood programs in daycare centers, family daycare, social service agencies, and schools.
The following programs are presented Monday-Friday, by reservation only. All program sessions have a group size minimum of 10 participants and a maximum of 20 participants. Each session fee is $5.00 per child.

The Children's Library
Participants develop and nuture positive literacy skills while being exposed to multicultural experiences. Social development skills, fun and lasting memories are built in an academic hands-on setting.

The Multicultural Cottage
Starting June 21, 2008 "Experiences from Around the World"
This program showcases the 26 cultures of Louisiana. Hands-on fun is planned based on the developmental needs of the group. Educators are also able to pick up suggested activities for each of the basic early childhood learning groups from a multicultural perspective.
Daily group reservations for AM and PM presentations are available.
The cost for activities is $5.00 per child.
*MCCS Institute Activities are for early childhood, pre-school aged children, & schoolers/school aged children.

Multicultural World Dress-Up Story Voyage
Multicultural story time event for ages 3-5 years old. Child dress-up in the month's world theme attire. Hands-on learning the make-up of our world as it relates to understanding lifestyles, traditions, etc. Mon-Fri 10am-Noon

Multicultural Trunk Showing
Children are allowed to view a Trunk Show of cultural items reflecting customs, lifestyle, and traditions that are both fun and educationally rewarding. Facilitates learning by listening, seeing and doing. Mon-Fri 10am-Noon

The Louisiana Nook
Fun space designed for pre-school aged children ages 3-5 years. Program emphasis on building self-pride, enhancing social, emotional, cognitive, & physical development. Participants gain appreciation of Louisiana history, traditions and customs. Mon-Fri 10am-Noon and 1pm-3pm

Games & Toy Making
Afternoon Experiences, Multicultural Games, Toy Making, Make & Take Nook, and Leisure Life Experiences designed for school aged children. Participants have the opportunity to see, make, demonstrate, and have meaningful and fun multicultural experiences. Mon-Fri 3pm-5pm | |
